Review: [Ecotools] Brushes

Today I want to review some brushes from a brand I LOVE SO MUCH: Ecotools. The brushes from Ecotools are claimed to have "incredibly soft bristles, sleek bamboo handles, recycled aluminum ferrules, and are 100% cruelty free". Yes, they are very soft and NEVER fall, their handles are catchy and most of them work very well! Most of my brushes are from this brand.

1. Ecotools & Alicia Silverstone:

I don't see this set on the website anymore so I'm not sure if it's available somewhere else; I bought this set a few years ago. The set includes a blush brush, a mini foundation brush, a mini face brush, a detailed eye shading brush and a spoolie brush. The makeup bag is cute, sturdy and has a second pocket for your makeup. Detailed reviews and rating (out of 5):

  • Blush brush:  - Perfect size for my cheeks, soft and easy to apply powder blush.
  • Mini foundation brush:  - I use it to apply concealer but I think it doesn't make application easier or quicker; I normally just use my fingers.
  • Mini face brush:  - Just perfect to apply powder highlighter because I never want to highlight my whole face.
  • Detailed eye shading brush:  - I use it a lot to soften eyeliner and create a more dramatic eye makeup for an evening look.
  • Spoolie brush:  - This brush helps me a lot to comb my eyelashes and brows, very helpful!

2. Flat foundation brush

Rating:
A lot of people said that using a brush to apply liquid foundation was better than using hands, so I decided to buy this one. Again, I think using hand to spread foundation is quicker and I don't see any difference in the finish compared to when I use this brush. Don't get me wrong, the quality of this brush is very good and it might be more practical to other people ... I just wish it was bigger!

3. Custom coverage buffing brush

Rating:  +++
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this brush which is actually just a stippling brush. I've bought it recently and now I think it's better than my hands! It helps my BB cream applied evenly and covers my pores MUCH better. It is also better than a sponge (yes, I used a sponge too) because a sponge sucks in too much products. My face looks so smooth after just BB cream. However, make sure you moisturize your face first because applying liquid foundation on dry skin with this brush can make your face cakey.

4. Sheer finish kabuki brush

Rating:
Honestly, I don't like to apply powder. Regardless it is pressed or loose and how little I put on, my face feels very uncomfortable. However, with this brush I don't have that feeling; I actually enjoy applying powder now because of this brush! Of course with this brush the finish is not sheer - if it is as its name then why bother using powder? The finish just has an air-brushed look, very natural!

5. Angled eyeliner brush

Rating:
Because each gel eyeliner I have already has a brush included, I use this brush when using an eyebrow kit ( cream and powder duo). The long handle makes it very easy to draw and shape my eyebrows. I'm sure you can use it to line your eyes too. Love it!

Where to buy: Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreen, ecotools.com, healthyplanetshopping.com

Besides brushes, Ecotools has other product lines like bath, lip balm and false eyelashes but I haven't try any of those. Please do share your opinions if you've used any of the products from this brand! Thank you!
